A freeze can show its damage after the thaw
Tye’s intermittent freezing weather puts pipe sections in unconditioned spaces, exterior walls, garages, and other lightly protected areas under strain. A line does not always fail visibly while it is frozen. Once temperatures rise and water pressure returns, a split pipe or weakened fitting can begin to leak.
Mineral-bearing water also leaves evidence around a slow seep. Crusting or staining at a joint, fitting, or pipe connection often appears before the leak turns into a steady drip. Those marks are worth checking rather than treating as a cosmetic issue.
When we repair a reachable leak in Tye, we look beyond the failed spot. The surrounding pipe, shutoff, supports, and insulation all affect how the repair holds up. If freezing led to the damage, keeping cold air away from the pipe and insulating the exposed section addresses the conditions that caused it.
