Dry ground and returning moisture put different pressure on lines beneath a slab
Clay-containing soil in Merkel dries and contracts through hot, dry weather, then gains volume again as moisture returns. A concrete slab stays rigid while the ground beneath it shifts. That difference works against supply lines below the slab, particularly where piping changes direction.
The first concern is locating the source accurately. A warm area across the floor, moisture at the edge of a slab, a sharp increase in water use, or damp interior finishes all point to a problem that needs investigation before a repair route is chosen.
A leak beneath the slab also keeps soil wet in one area, which adds to uneven movement around the foundation. Once the leak location, pipe condition, and practical access route are confirmed, we can make the repair decision without breaking concrete unnecessarily.
