Mineral buildup deserves a place in every water-heater decision here.
Mineral-bearing water in Impact leaves scale behind inside a water heater. In a tank, that material settles at the bottom, coats heating surfaces, and can interfere with the way heat reaches the water. The result is often popping or rumbling, slower recovery between uses, or less hot water than the household expects.
Tankless equipment also needs that water condition considered. Its internal water passages are narrow, so buildup restricts the paths where water is heated. A heater that seems to be failing is not always an isolated appliance problem; sediment, connection corrosion, and pressure-related issues are part of the condition we inspect when the symptoms point that way.
When replacement is the right route, the existing installation still shapes the choices. The current heater’s size and fuel arrangement, the venting where it applies, and the room around the unit determine what will work in that space. We also consider whether filtration or softening would reduce the conditions that contributed to wear on the old heater.
